what no thread on this yet at DPC? :P

The user manuals of the D70s and D50 are now at the Nikon-Asia.com website. So, it should be official now, just no official announcement yet. Should be out real soon.

The D70s isn't much of an upgrade. If the specs don't change, we get the same AF, same 18mm eyepoint, same color matrixing sensor, same buffer . . . (and the list goes on and on)

The only differences are cable remote, slightly bigger LCD, connect direct to printer stuff, and some menu changes. Nothing to get terribly excited over.

Looks like they're releasing an 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX lens with the D50 though. I'm guessing we'll see camera + lens kit for under $800.

Yeah, from what I've read so far on both of these, nothing is too impressive if you already have a D70. I want to see the D100 replacement. I want something that falls in that gap between the D70 and D2X.

I downloaded the D50 manual, couldn't get the D70s one. The D50 seems an odd marketting strategy - it seems to me that they stripped the features of the D70 and will probably cut the price. I'd think it would cost the same to produce as the D70 though (hence, wouldn't they lose money on it?). From what I've heard, the D70s is not worth upgrading to from a D70. The one thing I'd want (battery/portrait grip) still isn't available...
