Congrats!
I'm itching to buy a nice macro but it's a chunk of money to drop for sport. With my next financial windfall, I'll most surely cave. Actually I assume you got the Sigma which isn't way to expensive?
My stock entry which is doing well screamed for a macro. I cropped it to death, lost some sharpness and printed at 8X11 started to slightly, scent of pixilation.
Macro...macro...macro...

Pawdrix,
On advise of some DPC'ers i went to BH Photo for the lense after a week of reading users reviews and 98% of these reviews were great on this lense.
The lens and filter cost $370usd which was about 220euro, the lens alone in Ireland from a store I rang was 350euro ;-0 still this is bought from the money i was paid on my last job so i am happy about that.
i checked out some pics taken with a D70 and the lens and they look fantastic.
Cheers

Well i must say DPC'ers do it again. I bought from BHPhoto on the advice of the members here, I order on the Thursday last before easter and it arrived at my door this morning at 9AM, you can not get any better than that.
Big thumbs up tp BHPhoto
Not to get a few days off work and have some play time :-)

i would have gone with the 105mm version.
more working distance for macro. and longer focal length for everyday shooting. then i use the 50mm f:1.8 for the shorter focal length.

I just bought myself a present too, from B&H. Got both the 50mm/1.8 and the 105/2.8 macro (shh, don't tell my wife). Both are stunning. I have in camera sharpening turned off, so I thought that's why some of my shots with the kit lens looked a little soft. Then I tried the 50. I think I'll shave with that instead of my Gillette razor! |

It's like Christmas, isn't it? Except you're your own Santa. I am anxiously awaiting for my Canon 50mm/1.8 MK1.

Last week I got my EF-S 17-85, 50 1.8 and 1GB lexar 80x card from B&H. Ordered on Friday night, at my door on Wednesday morning.
Fantastic. Especially considering I live in Munich Germany! |

Why does a 50 2.8 macro cost so much more than a 50 1.8?
Hey I just noticed Canon's new lens, EF-S 60mm F2.8 Macro. I assume it's going to be much cheaper than the 100mm F2.8... |

It costs 385 Euro here, so will be about the same in America I would expect |
