I am wondering what the different attitudes and feelings are regarding the length and size of our "signatures" and how many folks turn them off through their Preferences - maybe even have a poll if there is interest. Another member brought this to my attention and now I am wondering what the general concensus is as to how much is too much. Thanks as always.

| One or two lines is good. I append my signature only to certain posts, and hide the display of other people's because they take up so much room -- I read a lot of posts. Especially when someone's posting repeatedly in the same thread, I find there's no compelling reason to append the signature to every comment. |

I will usually turn off the signature after I post once on the thread. There's a box to click if anyone hasn't noticed before. |

ok, I'll admit it, I was the one that put the bug in Kyle's ear *g*.
I keep the signatures turned off most of the time, because I don't like to read the same thing over and over and over again.
I could possibly live with a one-liner, but certainly not with anything more than that.
I sure do appreciate the option to turn them off. |

Not sure Bucket, but I thought that that options was right within the Post section, and not in Preference.... I may be wrong.

RayEthier, consider yourself thumped !!!
It's ok folks, we're rather close..... I'm allowed to do that.
And if you knew him, you'd know just HOW well deserved such a thump would be.
That man could talk with a mouth full of marbles under wet cement!! |

| I keep them turned off in order to avoid the ones that contain multiple photos or bolded text. I'd rather go to people's portfolios to see their photos, not have them pasted at the bottom of every post (most of which take up less room than the signatures). I wouldn't mind it if people could keep to a line or two of text or links. |

Not to thread-jack but I'd LOVE to filter out some topics like the ones that always show up asking how your entry is doing for a challenge that just started that same day. Maybe it's just me but I find them annoying. Back to your regularly scheduled topic. :)

Isn't that what "Ignore" under thread options (at the top of every thread) does? |

As you compose a forum post there is a box to check whether or not to display your signature below your comment. In your Preferences there's an option whether or not you see anyone else's signature below their comments. |

That I don't know but I'd LOVE to have a universal "ignore" feature for all similar topics that have the same purpose.

I have them turned off (but this time I'm remembering to click the Show Signature for mine. ;-)
One reason for having them off is when I'm on computers with slower connections speeds ... it just slows evrything down if people have lots of images in their signature as well.
