Just got through my initial voting pass on Cemetery Challenge. So many B&W and so many with negative messages. Many reminded me of the art at the Brittle Bones web site. I think you'd find it interesting and be sure and check out the archives. |

I can understand your point on the b/w Charles, but from my point of view the image just didn't cut it in colour, it had to be b/w to get the mood I was trying for.
And I like b/w :)

Yes, I have to agree, I tried my image in color and B&W and B&W won hands down as the more interesting image.

I too, must agree with the choice of black & white, for most of the cemetary photos. There are a few that needed the color, but over all, this is a great opportunity to show off your B&W abilities. I also agree that my first pass through the Cemetary images left me feeling a little lifeless. Not too many that really "did it" for me. |

I haven't looked at them yet but Cemetary is a challenge where B&W is particlarly appropriate, much more so than most other challenges. However I'm sure there will be some that you will look at and say "I'll bet this would have looked good in color, why did the photog convert it?" People need to learn that there is more to the Color vs B&W Decision than being able to do the conversion with technical expertise. You should also be asking Why? And if the answer is only that you can make the conversion, you need to keep asking. There should be more to your reasoning than merely the conversion coming out well.

I would like them all in color. I kinda went with the fact that new life was there (in plants & grass) where a place that is so dominant of death. I noticed when I was out shooting for this in one of the cemeteries the was a old headstone 1800's and right in front of it right above where the body was buried was a huge oak tree. Kinda neat.

If God had intended we shoot in B&W, he would not have invented Kodachrome! |

No, Paul Simon only immoratialized Kodachrome.
"... You give me those nice bright colors,
You give me the green of summer,
Makes me think all the world's a sunny day,
I got a Nikon [D70] camera,
I love to take those photographs,
Momma don't take my Kodachrome away ..."
Sung to the tune of, well ... Kodachrome!

Yeah, I know....but what I don't know is how you get the film between the back of the lens and the sensor. =o |

Sorry - I was processing some pics. Hmmm, I think it had something to do with Hendrix.
