Less then 2 hours to go and no response from the seller. Does anyone feel like warning the high bidder after the sale? Or eBay?

If you get down as far as the small print, the conditions he is laying down confirm it is a scam item. It is the usual pigeon english disclaimer.

Also, I would have thought a $4k lens would cost more than $10 to insure for postage.

Actually it was the disclaimer that gave me pause. The original eBay seller, if this is a hijacked account, was German. Also this disclaimer seems to be saying that there is no warrenty on the lens, and that by purchasing this lens you will not pursue the warrenty should anything go wrong. If it is a straight rip-off, which I still believe it is, I do not understand why the seller would care to dicuss the warrenty at all.

Would you think of buying a lens for that value, from an unknown seller, without some kind of warranty or return policy. I wouldn't!!

But, how many people bother to read the actual wording of a warranty...or in this case, a disclaimer. What he is saying is, you pay for it, but you can't send it back or get your money back...nor can you have the manufacturers warranty transferred.

I spoke with Ebay and they removed the final lens (5 minutes after the sale had ended), will wait to hear back from the other guy.

Edited to say, the last lens is actually still there showing as sold though the (probably) standard Ebay email implies the account is defunct now.
