Hello everyone! I am looking to upgrade my camera. My current one was a great gift from a fellow DPC'r but it's starting to show it's age and wear. The Zoom isn't working as well and it's not the greatest for dark, indoor shots. As I get more and more requests for sittings I am looking to upgrade eventually but do not have the funds nor the knowledge for a SLR yet, but would like to have one that I can attach a flash and adjust it accordingly. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks so much!

Hi Deannda. You've got a lot of miles out of your 3800, not surprised that you are ready to move up to something more sophisticated. Take a look at the Olympus C-8080 WZ. I think it's about the best non-DSLR you can buy. It's has an excellent lens system. And your xD cards will carryover. Has a hot shoe for external flash attachment.

| The fujifilm S7000 can be purshased now here for $NZ800. thats a real bargain for a n excellent camera. |

Thanks everyone for the replies.
I did a little homework and for the price the only one that was possibly in my price range was the Canon Powershot G2 series, but doing my homework it wasn't that big a step up except for the ability to attach a flash.
So doing some more homework, I went back to a name I know and trust, Olympus and found a refurbished G-5000 with 90 day Olympus Warranty for a little over $200. Now mind you the flash I want, the FL-50 is going to more expensive than the camera probably but at least now I have that option and this is a big step up in the camera's capabilities.
Thanks again, look for some interesting shots when the new camera shows up!

If you think far enough ahead...for example, you can get a canon prosumer camera and an EX550, and one day if you get a Rebel or 20D etc the flash will work. Same probably for oly cameras and nikon.
The Fuji S7000 is a great camera. You can get a used S602 on ebay for about $200-$220 when they show up. THey both will take a flash, but only in manual mode (no TTL).
You'll definitely want a camera with full manual capability.

Yes I will and someday hope to upgrade to the SLR series but it will be in little baby steps :)
I have 3 different photo jobs coming up and I want to be able to do more than I have and really start having some control over the end product as far as presets and learning more about said presets. But now I have two brands that I know and trust, Fuji and Olympus ;)
