Do you mean convert the RAW to JPG, or extract the embedded JPG?

I'm pretty sure he wants to extract the JPG, not open the raw file for editing. I know the 300d saves it in there automatically, but I have NO CLUE how to get it out.

I don't think that PS will do it.
Breezebrowser does, and I think the convert function in xnview just pulls the embedded jpeg out too.

or use the free RAW converter software from pixmantec ?

I have downloaded it and it works just fine, and really fast too.

If the 300D takes those pics, at least the software that comes with it should be able to get the jpg outta there.

When I shoot raw I get a jpeg thumb as well but never been able to view it, can I turn it off since I'm unable to use the thumb as a quick preview?

There is a program that comes with the 300D that has the ability of removing the file. I too cant do it as I dont have any of the original discs supplied with the 300D. I called Canon and they want 99.00 dollars which I think is a crock of pot. They sold the the license once already they dont need to make more money on it.
