This latest addition to my lens collection is amazing I could actually manage to shoot handheld at 1/10th sec with out blur.. of cause my subject was a fixed object and not something that moves at all but even still, WOW!!!! I now have my eye on the AF 70-200f2.8 VR but I dont want to sell my car to pay for it LOL.
anyone else used this or the 70-200 VR version?.. opinions please
I will post some pictures taken with it at various speeds etc if you like (but you will just have to take my word for it that it was handheld).
I traded in 3 lenses 35-70mm - 135mm - 28-200mm all nikkor and had to add 40,000YEN too (thats about $350) I certainly do not miss the other lenses and I think this new one will live on my D70 most of its life. I still have the 80-200 f2.8ED but after trying the VR version in the shop my old girl seems a touch slow on the AF but it will do for now until I can afford the change. I just helped my girlfriend buy a new camera (hanae-Fujifilm S602z) so Im a bit poor now.
Edit-spelling ...lol

Ahhhhh PEDRO! .... well he sure takes some great shots with it. Ive decided to sell my PC(ive gone mac mad)and my 19" panel to pay for this 80-200mm ED-G-VR beast but I also saw they make a 80-400mm f4.5-56 ED G VR and the reviews are great but they also say its really SSSSSSSSLOW AF but to be honest I dont mind about that because I like to manually focus anyway, its cheaper than the 80-200 and sharper too i read the review at Ken Rockwells website.
Ill be off out today with my 24-1290 ED-G-VR and going snappy snap snap all the way home *GRIN* |

Erk. Unless you really need the length of the 80-400 VR, I'd stay away from it. Got to play with one a couple months back. The focus is insanely slow. If you like MF, look around and pick up an AIS lens instead.
The 70-200 on the other hand is a beauty. And if you need extra length, you can always slap a teleconverter on it.
