do you think it's wrong to focus on one headstone for the challenge or should it be the more then one for the picture? I am stuck on my choice between two shots.

I think there should be at least 47 headstones in any given image in the challenge. If I see any entries with less then 47 headstones, I will leave the comment "does not meet challenge" and give the entry a 1.

One would be fine I guess.... but if you happen to see my name on it... please call me, I would love to add it to my Portfolio.

one seems to really touch me but I didn't want to get remarks that it wasn't a headstone challenge.

Screw them. Enter what pleases you.

Shoot what you like.... shooting for others will only lead to bewilderment, frustration, and aggravation.

Just a thought.

PHEW!!! just counted mine and there is 1756 in the shot and 9 outside the shot so i wont get a 1 this time yipeeeeeee.

Seriously though I would of thought a single grave is fine, graves are usually found in cemetarys so it meets the challenge in my opinion

Is it bad taste to show the name of the deceased?

I'm not eligible to enter this challenge, but I struggled with this question in the "Best Friends" challenge. For myself, I compromised by not showing the name, but using the name in my entry (hopefully with due respect.)

(IMHO)i don't think so
- only people it would matter to is family - & why would they care
as long as you don't show it in a bad light (pun)

I think it depends on how appropriate the name is. Does it meet the challenge?

I hope that you are not entering this one... if you are, please edit your post and remove the image.
yes, it does meet the challenge, but it's just another tombstone for me... would not score much higher than 5 with me.

I struggled with the same question on names. One grave was of an 18 year old with notes from his mother, friends, brothers and sisters and other mementos all laid out. His death was several months ago. While the memorabilia and the notes really pack a tremendous punch, I felt like this was to fresh of a pain to risk adding more to it. So if I do wind up with a name, it will be on an older grave with less risk of opening fresh wounds if by some miniscule chance it is seen. My 2c.

No pain no gain.

Were we supposed to focus primarily on headstones in this challenge? I didn't get that at all from the challenge description.

Unless you can get a good shot of a ghost in a cemetery.

Cemetery - Golgotha, boneyard, boot hill, catacomb, charnel, charnel house, churchyard, cold storage, crypt, eternal home, funerary grounds, garden, grave, graveyard, headstone, marble town, memorial park, mortuary, necropolis, ossuary, polyandrium, potter's field, resting place, sepulcher, tomb, vault

Just some of the definitions I found on line... it seems like alot more than headstones:)

I agree with you about the risk of pain with someone who has not long passed. I think there would be less risk of upsetting anyone if there were several stones in the shot. A good cemetery pic would be lots of stones or crosses, like the military cemetery has.
But i also can't enter or vote, only comment. Must think of becoming a member, just to enter more challenges and add pics to forums and things. As I have no chance of even coming close to some members here.
so good luck everyone.
