pretty good photos for your first set.
macro photography is a skill you learn in time. not at all to say i'm a professional, but i am getting better. the same thing will happen to you.
just know that manual focus is the only thing to do when it comes to macro. it would actually be nice if you could manual everything to have full control of the image.

are those rose shots taken closer or are they just a tighter crop?

The Rose shots were taken close-up only the second one has been cropped. Thanks for your comment

good start! - but it really takes some time to get the hang of macro (in my humble opinion). I love shooting macro shots and some of my best images have been macros (see my butterfly details in my portfolio that wins in every contest I can enter it in)...just keep playing til you find your niche
