First weekend out my my 70-200mm, not the ideal lens for the shot but it was fun anyways.

If you want to have this kind of fun at the San Diego Wild Animal park, go to the Lorikeets first thing in the morning before they have been fed by the masses. They will even tell you before you go in the birds are a little agressive and trust us they are...

I love those Birds!!!
I have one as a pet, "her" name is scooby-doo, she just started saying scooby as a youngin, so it stuck.
She is friggin hilarious, she bobs up and down faster than any Metallica Fan out there!
And emulates my phone and microrave too a T!
I'll see if I got a pick of her in my archives.. Im not taking any tonite.

What a hoot! So did you drizzle the nectar all over your wife to get them to hang all over her like that? LOL Nice shot!

We may have a picture of a same bird, taken at the same place again:

When I was young, I had a piece of meat tied to me so at least the dog would play with me.

This was nutz...we went in at 10AM just after they opened it up...if you walked in with one of those nectar cups you had 8-10 birds on you instantly. The photog next to me had a phobia of some sort (one to many alfred hitchcock movies) as she started panicing as birds were landing all over her and she didn't even have any nectar, her friend had to calm her down.

I had em on my arms as I was shooting this...

BTW: The other thing that is going on at the park is pretty darn cool (won't mention it as there are some really good challenge shots in there) but go in that one first thing when you get to the park, or you will be dealing with far too many young humam lifeforms later in the day.

Oh, I love parrot breeds! Thought you guys might like to know that I opened the pictures on this thread one at a time and let my own parrot, Spargel (a cherry-head conure, a large conure breed measuring about thirteen inches long and having a macawlike persona), have a look at them. He gets so excited over parrot pictures! He looked at each image with one eye, and then the other (I'm sure other bird owners can identify with this behavior), then streched his neck out, lifted his wings halfway, danced from one foot to the other, and began chanting, "Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi!" I even scrolled the window up and down to make the birds on the screen 'dance' for him, which elicited much head bobbing, more "Hi!"s, and more foot-switching on his part. Thanks for sharing them with us. He had a great time with his new 'friends,' and I got a good laugh from watching him. Bring on some more!
