I took this picture of a cello a couple days ago at school and raised the contrast (and messed with the levels) a lot... too much?

it's not sharp enough either...

Yup, way too much contrast... The sharpness doesn't have to be an issue if you work for a soft effect, but hi contrast and softness don't usually marry well.

I wasn't working for a soft effect at all...on the contrary.

Speaking of softness, i think theres too much DOF too i think... damn telephoto

Well, then, it ain't sharp enough, LOL. You can handle the DOF issue in PS with a selection of the cello, invert, apply gaussian blur. Do it on a duplicate layer, then select the original layer as source for history brush and fade out the gaussian in the foreground, to make it realistic DOF.

If you don't follow what this means, ask me and I'll show ya.

ps elements... i dont think i hav a history brush...

now that i oversharpened the crap out of it, tell me what you think
