I'm looking to buy a new monitor... with photography in mind. While stuff like contrast ratios and brightness are specified, I haven't yet seen a measure of color accuracy

Does anyone suggest certain brand names for the best color accuracy? Any models in particular?

I'd like to invest in a 19" to 21". Here are two lists I should choose from:

Future Shop

and

Bureau en Gros

I was considering this one for it's size... but I think I could get better quality, for cheaper, at the expense of the large size... what do you think?

Samsung 21"

I've always got on very well with Iiyama monitors, as although they're not cheap, they're kickass quality, and their customer service rocks - I recently had a 3 year old monitor blow up on me, and iiyama replaced it with not only a new one, but the latest equivalent model since mine was discontinued! And they didn't even ask about the warranty period, even though it was strictly speaking outside it... Definitely makes me want to buy their hardware again :o)

Aleks,
IMO, in the range you are looking, you can get both a very high quality CRT (like the LaCie linked previously) and a color calibration system, like the new Colorvision Spyder 2. If I were in your shoes, that's the way I'd go, no question.

These are worth more than the additional $ 300-400 you would have to invest for the 20 inch display. If your graphics card supports DVI with DDC technology for widescreen viewing, you should be able to use the 23-inch Cinema HD Display or the 20-inch Cinema Display with a PC.

I just ordered a new 20" ACD for my PC. It should be here Monday. Can't go wrong. No contrast or color shift. I paid $885. I already have a 23" for my G5.

I've compared this display with the current iMac one, which I consider a very good LCD. The difference is remarkable. The Cinema Display is considerably brighter with an amazing punch (contrast). Viewing at varying angles also is far more forgiving than with the iMac display.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we do.
