Can anyone identify this camera? It is 5x3.5x1.5 and uses or can use Ansco Photographic Sheet Film. It looks like the front accordians out, and the back seems to be glued closed.

How do you open it, how old, and what kind?

No clue Andrea. Just thought I would give it a bump. Someone here has to know.

Before trying to open it (and potentially ruining it..I dunno) try taking it to your local camera shop. Most of the techies there, even the young ones, love seeing stuff like this. And at least one of the should know what it is!

I used to have something similar once. Most of these cameras have some sort of a sliding hinge-thingie on the back: you slide it laterally a quarter of an inch or so and the back can be lifted open. If it hasn't been used in a long time it may seem not to be slideable and may look like an actual hinge. If there's something like that there, work on it. Close examination should show you the direction in which it must slide.

This is what the back looks like:

Bear: I tried doing what you said, but it is stuck fast.

Here's an update on the old camera my daughter posted about the other day. I took it to my local gear-guys and they showed me how to open it, and we determined its approximate age (about 80 years). Take a look at some photos of the opened body and let me know if anybody has seen one before, or knows of collectors. Unless Smartypants decides to keep it, we may put it on eBay and see what interest there is:

Very cool! It looks like it is in incredible shape, the bellows appear to be intact and not dried out at all. A little cleaning, and I bet it's functional. Very nice find.

I did a quick Google search on IBSOR DRP and found some German EBAY hits. A similar, but newer version camera (based on the serial number) with a "roll film" back sold for 27 Euros. You might have to look at the cached version of the page on Google to see this. It's in German, but the picture looks similar.
