I've read it because I believe it's the best thing I could read.
If you want to call me a fool for believing it, that doesn't bother me at all. I believe it because I believe it. Your opinion doesn't affect my belief. |

It wasn't meant to. I am quite agnostic when it comes to creation/evolution meaning I have not at this time found enough from any source to prove or disprove any theories either way. I am not agnostic in the sense that I am not sure about God's existance, just his form.

In the beginning, there was a duck. - Gary Larson
In the beginning there was the Word. You might think letters had to come first, but apparently it was the Word. Next came Word Macro Viruses...
In the beginning, there was only darkness. Then God said, "Let there be light!" A few minutes later, the utility companies said, "Let there be power bills," and darkness returned to the land.
In the beginning, there was algae. Then came lawyers, and finally more advanced life forms, such as worms and zucchini.
In the beginning, there were horses. Then came Starbucks and the demand for cupholders, so the automobile was invented. |

Man, dude! You have been watching way to much tv. I don't know anyone who locks their children in a closet to pray.
Did you know that you can pray anywhere? I guess you missed that part when reading through the Bible a few times. |

I wouldn't really call that a 'parable'...it's really more of an example that Jesus is giving when he says "hey, quit praying on the street corners and out loud at the synagogue to make people think your righteous...you're better off going into your rooms instead and praying when nobody is around. you won't be hidden from god...your father will see you and hear you."

In the King James version it reads: It is better to pray in a closet... And believe me when I tell you that it is often taken literally. Just like the handling of snakes.

I believe it...there's lots of screwed up things that happen when people refuse to read the bible in the context that the words were written or said.

Anyway this is all so far from where this thread began. The biblical context is what I first thought of when I read the challenge description, mainly because it is a quote from the Bible. I'm sure there will be many takes on this challenge. I'm fairly sure I'm not sure at all what mine will be.

IN the begining there was Genesis with Peter Gabriel, then there was Phil Collins, and then a solo project for phil, and then more piss poor Genesis, and then Mike + the Mechanics.
And God was rightfully irate, and afflicted Britain with years of bad house music, and Rick Astley. And everyone who dared look back at the evil abomination that was the Mechanics, was forced to forego the pleasure of the Manchester Beat filled early 90's, and skip straight to The wasteland that was and is filled with the Spice Girls, Kylie Minogue, and all others that should not have made it past page three of the Daily Mail.
And Seeing what had been done and the false Gods of techno, god was very very angry at the UK and inflicted the ultimate punishment. Madonna was confined to the British Isles, to live and work and ruin the chance of Guy Richie ever making a good movie again.

This is the first thing that came to mind when I saw this challenge come up.....I took out the last line. I want to see how many people know what song this is from.......
In the beginning
Good always overpowered the evils
Of all man's sins.......
But in time
The nations grew weak
And our cities fell to slums
While evil stood strong
In the dusts of hell
Lurked the blackest of hates
For he whom they feared
Awaited them.......
Now many many life times later
Lay destroyed, beaten, beaten down,
Only corpses of rebels
Ashes of dreams
And blood-stained streets.......
It has been written
Those who have the youth
Have the future
So come now children of the beast
Be strong

Hey now, you can say what you like about the bad house music I made a living out of for the best part of a decade, but I won't hear a word said against the little packet of joy that is Kylie : )

Madonna should have been crucified for castrating Guy the way she did. I was looking foreword to so much more from him.
