Hi all. Thought I'd ask for some help. I struck a deal "sort of..no money just trade-off of services" with a local vendor that does etching/engraving on acrylic, glass, black marble and tiles. I'm updating his web photos of his products. This is a first attempt. What do you think would help? He wants a black background. This is a clear acrylic plaque with a photo and text etched into it.
Lighting has been tricky...when isn't it?...

I'm going to try some spot light cross points on an edge. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Must be so perfect that it leaves everyone speechless. ;)

If we had the option to turn off certain thread topics more people would've responded earlier. Too many hardware topics at the moment. No dSLR so there's no need at the moment to see these.

That's very cool. Can't wait to see what else you come up with. Trading services for stuff is great.

Looks a bit dingy on my monitor, howerver I like the DOF it gives, just needs to be brighter with a bit more contrast.

Don't know if LED type lighting on the sides would bring out a good picture.

Thanks.
I read dingy, sounds like thingy, and wondered what the heck does that mean. :D I'm thinking that it's dull looking, also. I've tried back light, overhead light, side light, no light, flash light, red filtered light...I need to stop it...I'm obsessed!

If the etching is 3D underlighting might be interesting.

This one's not 3D but one of the other ones that I'm going to shoot is. Underlighting's a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

I like it just the way it is. I don't like trading services. I have been shafted way too many times. But if it works for you then go for it.

Thanks for the response.
I know what you mean. I'm proceeding with caution! Started out with only 4 products to start.
