louddog, you are obviously not rich otherwise you would have a better camera so clearly you *could* use the money.
Here's what I think so that everyone can understand...
It's great to sell your work from your hobby and make $.23, you're correct. But in reality, your images could be worth so much more with just about the same effort. Get signed up on a real stock site.
I remember a couple months ago seeing a 5-page advertisement in a magazine ... The advertisement was decent with decent photos. I saw it talked about on a stock site's message boards. Basically, the photographer got paid $1.00 -- that's right, ONE DOLLAR for a five page ad in a fairly popular magazine...that is just sad.
I also read about one guy selling one image through a stock site like shuterstock for $.20 and since he granted them royalty free usage to the image (as is in their contract), the company used his image in pamphlets, on their web page, and even on the sides of buses. All for a whopping $.20.
Now that is just about a kick in the behind if I've ever heard one.
Don't sell yourself short...and dont' get all defensive toward me for offering my point of view. If you have a point to share, share it...I'm always up for debate, but don't belittle my opinion. All I've said is fact. |
Again, thanks for your concern about me selling myself short. However, I could care less what you think. I'll do what I want and feel good doing it. I'm curious why you are so worried about me and others selling ourselves short? Worried we might steal some business from you or just genuinly concerned about our financial well being?
As for my wealth, that's none of your business and you really show your maturity by making financial assumptions about someone you know little about. However, don't worry about me, I do fine. My camera is no reflection on my income or my spending ability. Also note, photography ranks #3, maybe #4 on my hobby list. The other two have much more money invested in them.

*shrugs* You strike me as the type of person that after someone spends 10 minutes critiquing your work and giving you great pointers, you don't have the courtesy to check the 'I found this comment helpful' button. Or the type that gets a nice smooth transaction on ebay and doesn't leave positive feedback.
You tell me not to make assumptions about you, well then don't make assumptions about me. I'm not trying to make assumptions about your wealth just that if you complain your camera doesn't put out good enough images for other stock sites, and you're financially well enough about it, do something about it, or don't cry that your camera sucks.
Besides...point me in the direction of any one of us who wouldn't take the opportunity to sell one of the photos they've already taken for a million dollars...chances are that's impossible because no one in their right mind wouldn't take a million dollars.
That's about as far as I can go without personally insulting you, your wife, and your well-being as a person. So I'm just going to stop while I'm ahead. Apology accepted, kid...I'm done with this thread. ;-) |
Please take a few minutes and check the comments people have left me before once again making an assumption about me... My Ebay account is fine to. I know what they say about people that assume, what do they say about people that assume a lot and are too lazy to take 5 minutes to verify if their asumption is correct, when they easily could.
Also, I never "complained" about my camera or "cried" that it "sucks". Pay attention assumer! I simply stated a fact, that it is not good enough for the good stock sites. My camera serves me fine and I'm happy with it. I seem to have a better average score then you too, so it does me pretty good. I'd bet money I've made more money off photography too, but I'm not an assumer or a gambler.
Why quit now? Don't you want to make assumptions about my family, education, other hobbies, sex life... You can dig a much deeper hole for yourself. If you do chose to come back, please answer the question I asked previously. I really would like to know your intentions.
And again, please don't call me your kid. My father is an intelligent and mature man that only makes a fool of himself when trying to make people laugh. He is nothing like you. Also, I'm older then you. That is yet another incorrect assumption.

So why not delete your quote of me because obviously I was acting like an immature piece of crap? Rub it in my face with your little "too late" comment -- I don't care -- the only reason I took it down was because I was extrememly pissed off and don't see the need in arguing with someone like you and an IQ of about 4.
I'm done...I can honestly say I've never been this pissed off before at anyone because you posting my deleted post is ridiculous...but like I said I don't care that anyone sees it -- it was an attempt to just stop. If you have anything further to say to me, bring it to Pittsburgh...idiot.
