Any thoughts on this set of photos
what doesn't belong, or looks good, bad.
It is a photoshoot for a cd cover. These are the images I am giving the artist to pick from.

I like 106 and 93. 104 looks odd to me |

My favourites are 24, 104 and 106.
I like the colors in 24, and the way she is sitting, but I prefer the ambience and her pose in 104 and 106. |

Why is that "simpleviewer" so, umm, not simple? I simply can't force myself to browse through all of them. Sorry. |

leaf, you might like to increase the no. of thumbnails displayed on a page. having just 4-5 makes you go through 3-4 pages, maybe add 3 rows of 5 columns each |

46 is my fave. I like most of the stair shots.

I like 0025, but you know it really depends on the title of the album. If it's self titled or theme titles or a particular title.

Great stuff. I didn't notice the numbers but, the second one she needs to smile or something, the four is blurred, 10 has too much washout, 17 her head seems to be turned too much. All the others are really nice. Great job

I really like the scene of 0020. Love how it falls off into darkness in the upper right quadrant. The angles, lines and strong diagonal elements in 0025 work well but the expression doesn't feel exactly right to me; perhaps a different color treatment. Maybe try washing out the color or something. 0056 captures a moment that is difficult to get (at least it has been elusive for me). Trying to capture the essence of the motion but maintain an image that isn't difficult for your viewer to look at can be an exercise in futility. You seem to have captured an image that imparts the movement of the subject without loosing too much definition where you need it and without too much of a "frozen" from a high shutter speed. Well captured. 0067 feels too blown out to me but one look at the details of the logo on the t-shirt would seem to imply that you had to know the effects you were capturing when you shot it as you got a good exposure there so I think this must be your interpretation as the photog. Good range in this image; you have some blown details and some pretty solid blacks in the logo. Whether its to my taste or not it looks pretty artistically expressive. I have a strong reaction to the pairing of 0095 and 0093. 0095 doesn't seem conducive to the subject; it seems . . . harsh. 0093 has her face to the light and perhaps more angled down; its just a more flattering shot for the subject in my opinion. Neither is technically bad but I see a major difference (especially since they're side-by-side). 0104 is a standout in the vision that appears to have been behind it and the execution. Good use of negative space in your composition; that shadow down the righthand side has a strong effect but isn't overpowering because the eyes are drawn to the out-of-focus subject on the couch. Many images that try this effect just miss it so bad that it makes your eyes water when you look at the subject but this is a wonderful example of teasing your viewer with a barely OoF subject and drawing the viewer into the shot; leading them to examine what they think they're seeing.
For me the series shows (A) your willingness to pursue an artistic vision, (B) a few solid images in composition, vision and execution, (C) several images that come close and then (D) some images that as you shoot more and more you will start to eliminate on your own so that they don't dilute your vision. At this point, shoot whatever you think might tell the story the way you want to tell it. Your work here looks like you've got some ideas and some feelings to get into your images. You have strong elements and if your experience is like mine then it make take you some time to figure out which shots to not take as you refine your ability to understand what it is that you not only see but, perhaps more importantly, what you want the viewers of your work to see.
Thanks for sharing,
Kev

Does she have any music samples online? It'd be great to know what kind of a sound the photos would be trying to portray.

thanks for all your comments everyone, I really appreciate it and value your input.
I also was pleased with the effect of 104 (the blurry one), and perhaps 56 (the action one), along with perhaps a normal stairs image like 20... i guess it depends on what type of image the artist is looking for exactly.
No sorry, there is no music online. this is her first cd...
5 images to a page... hmm is that tiring...I guess it might be, especially when you are trying to compare images.
note taken, I think i will alter it a little.
