Yes. I've had the lens almost a year and have shot easily 5000 or 6000 images with it. Going out again in the morning.

That is a stunning image...
And on the topic of 'L' vs other Lenses.
We all take up photography for different reasons. Some for a living, some out of pure passion for capturing the moment, others simply to take snapshots of their dog crapping on the lawn next door. There's probably almost as many reasons as there are cameras in the world.
The value or not of 'L' glass, or EX sigma, Tamron, or the top end Nikon glass for that matter is that which the individual places on it.
It's the same with all Luxury items, not just Canon L glass. Once you step above the 'average' products in any field you will see small increments in quality/performance for large increases in price. That's just the way it works.
If you're considering the 'L' question you really need to read the reviews, visit some shops and take test shots with your own camera, then ponder your budget and make your own decision.
Just my 2c worth, and really just repeating what others have said..
Cheers, Chris H.

It's also worth remembering that great lenses won't make you a better photographer, but they will make your great photos sharper. Amazing lenses that make bad/mediocre shots tack sharp are probably a waste of time! |

I think KiwiChris sums it up nicely.
But if I may kick my self, I would lust for a L-only lens collection if I were using Canon. :)

Dont let anyone make you think they aren't! I think you have found the perfect lens for yourself :)
