Edit: Higher-resolution image has been posted.

Just one photo to be put up here. Handheld at ISO 400 and f/2.8. I was at the gardens and the lighting on this flower caught my eye.

Be wary, anyone who is planning on visiting the gardens. To go to the special exhibits, such as the wildly popular orchid exhibit that is ending soon... photography is only allowed on tusadays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12-noon. Otherwise, photography is highly restricted. Just some important information.

Any and all critiques, comments, or suggestions either in the thread or on the image are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lee

The lighting here is what separates this from just another flower shot to something special. nice work lee.

Wow Lee!
I have tried a few times to shoot an Orchid, and from experience, they are tough to capture well. Your different perspective here is beautiful.
Nicely done!

i think yours is really pretty. I love the lighting, i attempted one once (see below). It was originally yellow but i thought it was too washed out. I changed the hue, i was just mucking around.

Interesting colors there... they are fascinating and beautiful.

Thank you all for the great feedback!

Very very nice Lee! I love the lighting, the composition is good, and you nailed the focus.
You might want to repost with less compression... I saw a few compression "gnats" around the high-contrast edges and noticed the file size is only 26k. The photo's not chock full of detail, so no need to go over 75k, but 26 is very small.

This is because it has been resized by DPC from it's original slightly larger than 640-size. I will repost soon.

If your photo was in a challenge, I would have given it a 10. Great job!
