I was going to try to install GIMP and try it out but I can't seem to figure the install process out. There are a couple of threads with auto install links but they are all dead. Is there an easy way to install this without having to get into major command line?

I have basically downloaded a zip file with a gagillion other files in it and am getting lost in the install instructions.

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Johnathan

I have gimp i got it off of the gimp site. No problems downloading. Make sure you down load the gimp enviroment first. Google gimp and they will give you the official site to download from with good directions. Gimp is the best also google gimp books I have a gimp guide that is fantastic. Gimp kills photoshop....Rock on

I am assuming you are on windows, in which case you want to download this:

gimp for windows

You should find a setup executable in there. I have installed on several windows boxes using this, and it works great.

GIMP is a great, free tool. It is lacking some of the power of Photoshop, and definitely some of the polish. There are a couple of books available, and some great online tutorials.

Assuming Windows go here:
//gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

You'll want to grab GTK+ 2 and The Gimp for Windows from this page:
//gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html

And I came to this thread thinking that I may be able to use some of my experience working on Richard Desmond's 'Forum' magazine...

That's exactly what I was looking for. I just got it up and running. The links you all sent were so much easier than trying to figure out the website.

Thanks All!!!!!
