What are the odds? This was totally unintentional and I only realized it once I was going through the shots on my computer. We were at several different random locations along the parade route and on both sides of the street. Take a look at Prof_Fate's parade photo on the first post in this topic. Now take a lool at my photo below. The exact same marching group, at the exact same location (only a few feet further down, notice the same garage in the right hand portion of the photo), from almost the exact same perspective:

Notice the orangey faces of the marchers - i toned it down some in mine, but as i PP'd the pic everything looked good, but the faces went orange - i thought is was me, till I saw mike's pic...it's this group!

Where are you? Sure, come join us. Hard to find the old threads here via the search function, but we GTG about once a month.

We could do our next GTG april 2 or 9 - daylight savings kicks in on the 3rd, so catching dawn's early light won't require such an early rise on the 9th.
We had a suggestion to get outta the city - anyone know of a spring like place for early april (outdoor flowers or ...)?

I live in robinson, about 15 minutes from downtown.
I'll try to think of some good areas outside the city.
do most of you live pretty close to the city?

A couple of lesser known places..have to contact about a photo trip...
//www.buhlmansion.com/ and //www.tara-inn.com/ they both do tours though. I visited the seiberling mansion //www.stanhywet.org/main/home.asp outside Akron a couple of years ago and WOW - what a place to take pics. (Seiberlings owned Goodyear Rubber Co)

Living treasures animal park (website down now apparently)
Moraine State park //www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/moraine.aspx

Brush Creek park //www.co.beaver.pa.us/Recreation/bridge.htm

i'm in the downtown area. i've lucked out the last few GTGs being as they were both within 2 miles of my house. but i suppose i can be persuaded to leave the urban environment for a little while.

here is an idea:

instead of an out door shoot, if there is anyone with access to a proper studio setup, we could experiment with that. sorry hans, i know everyone is going to think of you. i just believe that we could all use a little help lighting.

haha...well my "studio" is small. really small. It's actually a dining room that's been converted. i try to shoot there as little as possible. I'm actually more interested in doing some outdoor portrait work. I should be getting my portable power supply in the next couple of weeks. Muahahaha

Yeah, I'm all for something like that. Most of the shots I take are either photojournalistic or landscape. I wouldn't even know where to start with lighting positioning, light wattage, angles, etc. Studio style shots would be very interesting to learn, and as we all know, lighting setup is the most crucial element in studio style shots.
