I was curioius who mattes and frames their work for display in their home?

If you do, I would love to see how it is displayed.

Here is photo of my living room.

I don't. If I were a singer, I wouldn't play my own songs on the stereo.
Some people display their own work and I have seen a previous thread on that.

Here's one of mine from a few years back - now on the living room wall:

I have more recent prints waiting for matting and framing and various other bits of art waiting for same.

Skip, I love it! Yes it's a bit messy, but in a delightful, stimulating way!
The way you kept the frames looking similar stops it from being too messy.

mine rotate over the fridge. up for a week or so to really soak them in, and get random feedback. then to the binder they go...

I don't show off mine, I wouldn't want my friends get their eyes hurt. lol

I get bored with seeing them up in my house. Now I hang them in various coffee shops around town, for a month or so at a time in each place.

The center piece of our living room. Sorry about the reflections!!!
My art and my photography share wall space all over our house.

I just put a couple of mine up today. Only 3 though, and they're the only ones we have up anywhere...The rest get stuffed back into a 3 ring binder.
Here's the three we've got up now:

This is the only one I've had framed so far. I really must choose one or two more.

Put a little tape on the backs or anything to make it harder for them to slip - you won't have to straighten them then!!

Now if only my family would let me hang some of mine (that includes those I buy from DPC Prints of others').

After seeing Skiprow post his wall of fame in an older thread, it inspired me to do the same. What's the point of taking the photos if you can't enjoy them right? Although this is down in my basement where no one really goes yet as we've just finished it. :-) And as Smellyfish stated he does above, I too will be taking the leap and start showing my things in local coffee shops starting in May when I get a good bunch of stuff together and learn the "right" way to matte a photo. :-)

I only hang photos of my 3 kids in my home. I have had several exhibitions at local colleges, and some of the papers I have worked for have some hanging in their offices. It's nice to see others enjoying them.:)

I'm in a state of terminal deskrot right now, but for better or for worse here's my gallery and workspace, or part of it anyway. I'll clean it up before tourist season :-)

I don't matte and frame them very often but I have prints of my favourites littering my dining room. I lean them up against things.

Love skiprow's display! I'm drawn to photos on the walls of people's homes because they're going to display their best or most sentimental work (and yes, I have mine all over the house too). I much prefer to study wall photos then to have friends hand me their photo album of their latest vacation !
Oh, and I have my own work all over my office too -LOL!

Man, those frames must get expensive! I also plan to have some printed soon.

Where do you get them printed? Does a place like Wal-Mart suffice or do you notice a quality difference from a "printer"? Or do you print them yourselves?

I am into woodworking so I make my own frames and have them all over the house.

Check out //www.mpix.com

I have used several places, including local Walmart and Sams Club for convenience, and Mpix has the best service. I highly recommend them. I still use Sams Club for quick 4x6 prints to give away, but I use Mpix for anything nice.

wendy: thanks!

mike: i got the frames at costco a few years ago; i think the 11x14 were about 3 for $15 and the 8x10 were about 3 for $10. i do the printing myself on an epson stylus photo 820 using their best ink and paper; i think the quality is better than anything i've had done professionally (but it is time consuming).

doug: i wish i had time to make my own! that would be a blast.
