Ok, guys here I come to you once more!
I've always LOVED my nickname, ScudS.
It's been like a "name" to me, since I was like, 9! And I'm 24!!!
I've always wanted to have a tattoo, and I liked very much the idea of having it done in my back, below my shoulders!
The thing is, I've been messing with corel draw for a long time today, with no good results.
I've downloaded quite a lot of diff fonts, tried diff setups, none of 'em pleased me!
But I'm quite sure of what I want, I just can't reproduce it.
I want some bold letters, taht look like scratched, rusty, with some noise to it!
It can have a frame around it, or maybe some lines, something that add to the roughness of the image, but still looks good! Like a LOGO.
I've never been any good at logos.
Any genious around? Anybody willing to give me a hand on this?

| Maybe you should try heading around to the tattooing parlors in your neighborhood and see what they can come up with for you. They are artists of their own trade after all and should be able to draw something out for you -- maybe they can work with you and together find something that jumps out at you. Good luck!! |

That's the thing! The guy that's going to do it is a friend of mine, with a degree in arts and all. He's actually very good. But he doesn't want to take the "credits" for it. Coming up with the art itself. He has sort of a different criteria about doing it on ME. I can't really describe what hu thinks, but he doesn't want just to "mark" me. We're really good friends and he want's it to look "special" you know. I think he wants it on me, in such a manner that I can't come up with something that looks really good!
That's gonna be hard........

I wouldn't have posted it if you couldn't use it. :) Use it as is if you want, I don't mind. Just take a pic so I can put it in my porfolio. :D
If you want it as is, I'll work up a better quality one for you.

It doesn't need to be high quality, as it'll be drawn again, in paper, so then he can have it on my skin. Only thing is, the word itself, SCUDS, could be a bit bolder. Maybe without the noise, just the outline as a border, a frame of some sort. Maybe just one S with the word in it, like the one on the right, but using the S facing the right direction.
so many options hehehe! i'll give it another try on corel draw
thank you.....

That's a good one!
I know I could come up with something that fits your original description in CorelDraw. I'd use Impact and move the letters closer together and shift their height randomly. Then I'd cut it in half diagonally at random angles and move the peices for a broken look, and then I'd add some dust, or random little trangles around for a grangier look.
I can do this tomorrow, if you'd like. |

make the line and the drips red
as a starting point... maybe move the lettering closer together

Are you sure you want a tattoo on your back?
I mean, this is something that you'll live with for the rest of your life...
...I'd reconsider putting the tattoo on your forehead.

LOL
People dont realize that a tatoo will be there forever or until you come up with a lot of money to have it removed. What looks fun at 20 looks not so good at 70

So let me get this straight. He wants your first time to be special while he puts his stuff on your back??? just wrong...
Anyways I have a tattoo and the trickiest thing about the shoulder blade area is that it can be VERY painful if he hits bone. Second not all lettering looks good and can blend after time and become unreadable and could pose for some ink blot art. My suggestion to you is you use as big of lettering as you can find because the smaller the print the blurrier it gets after time. If you realy want a cool looking tattoo get a grafitti artist to draw one up but remember by letting someone else do it it is there work you put on YOUR back and not your own.

| When you are 80 or 90, are you really going to want "ScudS" written on your back in saggy, sun-spotted weird writing? |

That's what I was talking about, when I first wrote about him not wanting to just do anything. It ain't goinna be just his work, it's going to be a blend, a mix of two works! That's why I'm trying to come up with something for the past 3 years and still haven't decided!!!!

Well, as I said on my little story at the first post, I consider "scuds" to be a part of my name already.
What's wrong to carry around ur name? How does it differ from having it just on ur Id (besides the fact that it's on ur back LoL)?
If u're proud of it, nothing can stop you!

That's no reason to not do a tattoo. We'll all look bad at 80 or 90. So should we give up our eyes? lips? hair? (oh, that'll be gone anyhow...)
Besides, at 80 or 90 I promise you no chicks will look at you to say if it's good or bad anyway. And having it on his back, he probably won't have to see that either.
Damn... do I hate those who says I shouldn't do a tattoo cause it'll look bad at 90... (no personal offence by that!)
The only thing one should think about re aging and tattoos has to do with the location.
Like if you're doing one on your belly you should be aware of the fact that loosing or gaining 5-6 pounds (how much time that takes? like a month or two?) makes your belly change and the tattoo will distort.
Your back does not change that way. Nither do your legs by the way. that's where my tattoos are ;-)
I'm not too crazy about names in tattoos but that's personal preferences. I'm sure he's not the kinda guy who'll like my tattoos.

I hope nobody misconstrued my post as anti-tattoo...I have one tattoo and I got it on my forearm where everyone sees it all the time.
It meant nothing when I got it a few years ago...I was high and I just thought it looked cool - it has since picked up a meaning.
But I will never ever regret getting it. It's a snapshot, if you will, of my life at that time...why would I remove it? Do I go through old photo albums and tear out the photos I don't like? That being said, it's a little more ambiguous than big letters on my back.
I'll take a pic and show you in a minute...
