I've seen several people mentioned they use Neat Image. There seems to be 4 different versions. Is there a popular version that is use by photographer/people on DP?

Thanks!

I use Noise Ninja which I feel is easier and more intuitive to use than Neatimage.

They differ in two significant ways; 2 of them are standalone, 2 0f them are photoshop plugins. For your purposes, if you have photoshop, the plugin is preferable because you can apply NI to selections. The other difference is 8-bit vs 16-bit useability. If you do RAW, youw ant 16-bit.

NeatImage is extremely versatile. It is also useful as a sharpening tool, the learning curve is fairly steep but it's a very, very valuable tool.

Thanks for the information! I have PS6 and PSE2....but I don't really know diddly about it. I see people mentioning curves, USM, and other terms regarding PS...and I have books....so I'm always looking up terms in my books to read up on it and figure it all out! I love the learning....even if it doesn't always sink in :)

Does the photoshop plugin come with the freeware installer of Neatimage? I have installed neatimage, the standalone application runs fine. The plugin was supposedly installed also, but is nowhere to be found in photoshop.

The neatimage.8bf file which is supposed to be found in the NeatImage program directory is not their either... Any ideas?

They don't. And you can only save at a lower resolution jpg also. Woeks more or less ok for DPC, where you can NI a large version and then scale it down to 72 DPI, but terrible for printing.
