Possum is the way people say it, Opossum is the way it's actually spelled. |

Hope ya'll don't mind a repeat, as I posted this one a few days ago in the Random Photo thread. The three other deer high-tailed it when I stepped out onto the front porch, but this little lady is getting pretty bold and just turned around and looked at me for a minute or so.

We got no Opossums, or for that matter
Skunks, squirrels, ground hogs, moles, chipmunks, badgers, fox, coyotes, wolfs, raccoons, porcupines, woodchucks, or much of anything else for that matter.
We do have mice, rats pigs, mongoose and cats more cats then you can count.

There is a park near my house where I take my kids to feed the ducks. They feed the ducks and I take pictures of them( 1000s in the past 2 years).
Last Saturday the park was full of gulls. I tought it was kinda odd since we're along way from the sea. I did take adantage of the photo op. though. What do you think?

Well, this little guy decided to hang out on my window sill the other day:
Then we have the cows across the street:
A toad in the garden:
A Humming Bird on my flowers:
And a bat in my shed:

Possums are Australian marsupials of various kinds, such as brush-tailed, ring-tailed, pygmy, sugar... They're nocturnal and live in trees - or people's rooves, in which case they're a problem, especially when their pee gets in the lighting system.
Some were introduced into New Zealand and really do a lot of damage to the Kiwi ecosystem. Sorry about that. |

Aren't they the state bird of Utah or something? They don't call 'em dumpster ducks for nothing. :-)

You saw him eating corn? I was wondering if they even ate corn because we have NEVER caught one on our deer cams. I thought maybe they didn't eat the corn we were leaving. I guess maybe the coons keep them run off.

Tim, he was eating corn. He's been stopping by the last few evening before dark. Today he had climed a tree stump where the corn cob was for the squirrels and he was nimbling on that. He was hiding in our Christmas tree (we put it out there for shelter for the critters) by the time I got out there. In the full-size shot (and sort of in this one) you can see bits of corn on his nose. He was scared of me and wound up running off after several minutes.
