Well its nearly here again, St Patricks day and I am heading over to Achill Island off the west coast of Ireland, pics can bee seen on my profile if interested.
My plan is to follow my young cousin as he is playing the pipes in the Dooagh pipe band, so i want to follow his progress throughout the day. kind of a fly on the wall thing.
Also i will be taking pictures of the parade as this is a very traditional affair not like the parade in Dublin. I will post pictures for those interested.
Cheers

Would love to see how it's celebrated there.
It's going to be big here.
"2005 is a very special year for St. Patrick's Festival, we're celebrating our 10th Birthday! This years Festival will run from March 16th - March 20th.
St. Patrick's Festival is a five day party offering an exciting programme of entertainment highlighting some of the best artistry and flair the country has to offer and most events are free, so go on what's stopping you!!
Over the 5 days of the Festival, audiences can look forward to music, fireworks, street theatre and dance. There's also a treasure hunt, visual art exhibitions, family fun and of course the best and most eagerly anticipated St. Patrick's Day Parade in the world. Make sure to be in Dublin for the big party!!" |

I took some shoots at Chicago's St. Patrick's Day Parade. I'll post some later ... after I take a nap, I'm exhausted. |

See, here in the south we do things a bit differently... We have our parades AFTER the holiday.. Go figure.
I'm gonna try to get down to our Paddy's day parade on Sunday and see what kinds of snaps I can get. If nothing else, I have no doubt that I'll find some kinda fun somewhere. :-)

That's actually true. I shot 227 images today. That's a record for me. I was a bit late for the parade and had to stand 2 rows behind and it was no fun. For most of the shots of the parade, I kept firing 3 for every single one in continous mode. I wasn't looking throught the viewfinder and didn't really know what I was shooting! I had the camera above my head and extended forward and wasn't really sure if it was focusing or where it was pointing at! |

Ye got some great photos there folks!
I was at the Dublin parade too. Unfortunately I didn't get a great place to stand and ended up watching the parade (instead of photographing it). Had lots of fun anyway!
Some parade photos

Here's some of mine from last weekend's 2005 San Diego St Patricks day parade all taken with 20D and Tamron 28-300mm 3.5-6.3 XR Di LD (IF). I kinda got out in the road every once in a while. :)

I know why! Your user-id needs to be in the link aswell. Both of your collections have the same ID. |
