If so, we would love to see your thoughts and shots.
We just ordered one and were pretty excited!

AWESOME LENS.
Only problem is the mode 1/2 button is a little easy to bump into.

But overall it's one of my favorites :)

Mrx has lots of 70-200/IS shots.

If the IS is not one of the main reasons you would want this lens you can find the non-IS models new for about $500 less. I don't see IS as something I would use often, so I bought the non.

I've got the non-IS and it is a great lens...I seriously considered the IS version but

This lens is great, especially for two things:

sports- subjects generally moving pretty fast & requiring shutter speeds faster than 1/250th of sec... therefore IS really not needed ( + monopods are almost universal on the field)

Portraits- where lighting should probably be controlled and using a tripod understood to be a given or a non-issue; again...IS not really an issue

Sure, it'd be great to own an IS 70-200L but I've got other toys to buy with that extra $600 difference

maybe if I win a lottery...

I got the 70-200L f2.8 IS and it´s a great lens, well worth the $1650, it´s a bit heavy so I don´t carry it with me on long trips, but for sports and action shots it´s superb :)

Check out the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8. At $799.99 shipped it's a very economical alternative to Canon's version. This Sigma will probably be my next lens purchase.
