Hello,
This is my first time to post photos into the forums and ask for C&C from y'all. I had the opportunity to go home recently and spent several days backpacking in East Tennessee. I used to hike/camp frequently when I was in the Boy Scouts, but since then, school and work seem to get in the way of having fun. It got really cold (~15 degrees F)on this particular day, and I had to hand hold my camera's batteries until they warmed up before I could shoot again. I'd also like to plug how well the Lowepro Naturetrekker AW bag held up in the weather. I was very comfortable with day-hiking about 10 miles carrying the bag & tripod. Please review and critique. I will always take the good and bad comments constructively, so fire away. Thanks.

Good pictures. My favorite was the first one, "Waterfall." My least favorite was "TN Icicles." It just wasn't very interesting. |

Hi David,
Beautiful area! Brave of you to hike there in that cold, too.
My favorites are the first and last shots. Love the emerald green water in the photo of the falls. I wonder if it should be rotated maybe 3-5 degrees right, though. An easy trick is to scroll the image up to the top of your monitor and use the edge to align the horizon (or in this case, the water line in the falls). I took the liberty of trying it with a 5 degree rotation, more out of curiousity than anything else. See what you think.
The bright green moss and bright white rapids in the last shot look great against the gray woodland background. I think it's my overall favorite. Thanks for posting.

Time away is good. I really like the first and last ones best (the last one being my favorite.) Overall, the lighting seems a bit flat. I don't know if bumping contrast would help. The waterfalls seems really blown out as well. Beautiful spots, though. |

Thanks for the comments. I'm no pro at photoshop, but I tried to bump saturation and contrast but couldn't get the right "pop" in the photos. Because these were taken down in a gorge, it was low light almost everywhere (yes, I did use a tripod).

Ray, it certainly did make for a more eye pleasing picture. I'll certainly look for that feature in the future. Thanks. |
