I've never used templates in PS before. I was wondering what the easiest way to make a book would be. A bunch of people are sending pics to a friend who is putting them together like the image below. It's taking her a long time to do each page individually. Is there a way make the process faster? I don't know how templates work and the Help Section only talked about data-driven graphics in templates...

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Here's what the layout will look like.

To be honest, Photoshop is not really a page-layout tool. You should really be using something like Adobe PageMaker or InDesign to layout book pages.

Second what Beller said: it's not designed for that. CorelDraw, Pagemaker, InDesign all would be much easier to use.

That said, she can create a "page" with a black background in the correct size/resolution, add rule guides to define the areas for images, add white rectangles within those guides (to make it easier to see the intended locations), and make a note of the needed pixel simensions/resolution for each image. Save this as "template 1" or something, then do a save-as as "page 1" or something. Then she can open each image separately, crop and resize as needed, and drag it onto the "page 1" page and snap it to the guides.

Then create "page 2" from the template when it's time for that one.

Thanks guys.

Robt, I was thinking of that, too, but wasn't sure if there was another way.

I have InDesign, but I don't think she does. I wonder if InDesign has a free download...?

Thanks again!
