Why do zoo animals always yawn? They don't have any reason to be tired. :)

These photos are from my trip to the San Francisco Zoo today. Let me know how they could be improved. I wasn't able to get shots like these before getting my 70-200 f4.

Thanks, Braz

Braz - left a couple of meaningless comments. Thanks for the uplifting pics.

Usually not a fan of zoo pics, but these are excellent. If I weren't lazy (and if it weren't 1:30am here) I'd comment on all of them. Very nice.

I second that comment. I really love the richness of the colors in "king" and the composition of the peacock one. Really good shootin' day for you!

That shot was taken through a thick, smudged, dirty window. I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did.

the lion yawning, the flower, and the peacock are all amazing. however, the green in the gorilla yawning picture seems a bit unnatural to me (maybe slightly oversaturated?). otherwise, great work!

They were all taken with the Canon EF 70-200mm f4L.

You're right about the green in the gorilla photo. I think the final curves adjustment made the green too intense.

Great shots ... two animals yawning - must be boring for them to pose for photos all day. You'd sell the gorilla pretty well, I think.

Allright, I submitted the first three photos posted above to DPCPrints. I didn't submit the peacock photo because the head and edges are not really in focus and it wouldn't look good as a print (at least not bigger than 4X6).

Just for reference, here is the original unedited version of the yawning lion shot. It was taken through a dirty window.
