My photo, if anyone remembers, was the eye with the skull in it. Shucks, I guess i missed the part in the rule guide about spot-editing, or maybe i just forgot. What I really want to know is how they know that i spot-edited. Cause i only spot-edited like, less than 10 pixels of light-spots under the eye to the left. Maybe someone thought i inserted the pic of the skull on the computer, ....i didn't. I did it all in camera. Only on the computer, i upped the contrast and brightness with it, addded border, shrunk it, and took out like, less than 10 pixels of light spots. Anyway, o well, I guess i'll just have to be a rule freak from now on, so that I don't slip up and miss something.
Anyway,
Thanks to all who voted anyway (I had a good mark before i got DQ'd)

We have very specialized, costly, high tech, secret equipment which allows us to read the photo description where you admitted to spot editing. :P
I'd suggest a thorough reading of the rules since "no spot editing" is among the most major. You never know what else you might be missing. |

Boohoo for me too. My very first DP challenge was denied as well.
I also spot edited a 70's entry challenge. Of course there is more for post processing in the "Advance Mode" than in the "Basic", I had a momentary lost "synapse" there. Tell the DQ police that it won't happen again... Good Luck... |

LOL...
I think he was referring to the person who made the request in the first place. I would guess they were suspicious of the skull.

Approximately how long does the validation process take? I submitted mine yesterday around 5 p.m. for validation. I didn't do any spot editing, only a crop and desaturation (master) of the entire image and the date was Sunday, March 6. So I'm thinking I didn't make any boo-boos in the basic editing process ... my curiosity is getting the best of me. |

From the time you submit your original, we almost always make a decision within 48 hours.

Hey, I will post my non-edited and edited photos of the "Eye by M.C. Escher" if someone tells me how to post them in here because Im not a member, so i dont have a portfolio. If worst comes to worst, i'll put them in my site, and post a link.
Write back please.
P.s. I did the entire skull thing on camera. I'll post explanations if anyone wants to know exactly how i did it.

You'll need to post them somewhere offsite if you're not a member here. Your own website will be fine. The little icons above the "post message" box will help you insert links or photos to your message. |

Here is a link to both photos:

Or: go to //www.simonphotography.net, click 'portolio', then click 'closeups', then click 'others', and then you are there!

Hey, im sorry, i have about 40 of the skull photos on my flash card so the one on the site may be a different one, but I assure you the photo i entered for the challnge, (the one on the right), was just sharpened, brightened, (spot, edited, oops), and bordered, and shrunk. But ya, you get the idea.

to me it looks like you were DQed for the border
from what I remember the type of border you have used is not allowed
"Spot-Editing: Absolutely no spot-editing is allowed. This includes, but is not limited to drawing tools, dodging/burning tools, and cloning tools. Additionally, the use of any type of selection tool is prohibited except to select a non-feathered, non-anti-aliased rectangular area for cropping"
so the way you selected the border got you the DQ

Hey, I think that my border was ok, because i abided the rules of a "non-anti-aliased rectangular area for cropping." The reason I got disqualified, Firsty, was because I spot-edited some bright highlights under the eye. I must of missed this section of the rule guide.
I up-most apoligize to the administration and the judges, and I will promise not to slip up again and get disqualified again.
Thanks,
Simon
