I think I had a sign on my Jeep today that said ATTENTION IDIOTS! Let me explain.
STORY # 1
So I'm parked at the pump at the gas station getting a little gas and a water before heading downtown for the St. Patrick's day parade. As I'm walking out, this crack-head lady is FLYING through the parking lot, heading toward the car next to my Jeep and I'm thinking 'oh great, she's going to smash this lady's car'. OH NO! Of course she gets traction and aims to steer between my Jeep and this lady's car but then, she slams on the brakes again and locks them all up (BECAUSE ITS SNOW AND ICE!!!!!!!!).
So I'm watching helplessly as this crack-head lady SLAMS into the side of my Jeep, bounces off and is heading straight for me. Quickly, I get out of the way while thinking 'oh great, I know this lady doesn't have insurance'.
So she keeps sliding right on by me, bumper on the ground by my Jeep and rearview mirror hanging by a thread and I'm thinking she's just going to keep going so I remember her license plate and am about to call 911. She stops in the spot and I look at my Jeep and it is fine.
I guess my tire took off her mirror and my rock slider ripped her bumper off so I asked her if she was ok, she said yea so I left.
EDIT: Her response was 'I think my brakes failed' -- DO YOU THINK!!~!~!?~!?~!? I'm sure it had nothing to do with the snow and ice.
-------
story #2
So I'm driving up this steep road after deciding parking and the crowd wasn't worth it ontop of all the snow on my way home when this Jeep Cherokee is ON MY BUMPER the whole way up. Apparently 25 in a 25 wasn't fast enough despite the ice and snow covered road (I mean seriously, there were cars sliding off the road everywhere).
We get to the top of the hill and I'm in the turning lane waiting for this approaching cavalier to go so I can turn. Apparently the cherokee doesn't feel like waiting so he passes me on the left...and is met head on by the cavalier.
---
I just left and went straight home...and here I now sit -- afraid to go out again today.

Yikes! All in one day? Three times is a charm - I'd stay instead too!
[sarcasm] Some photographer. I can't believe you didn't have your camera with you either time so you could supply us with some nice action shots![/sarcasm] ;-)

heh...I did have my camera in the jeep, but in the first case, it all went by like a blur...in the second case, I was just ready to get home by that point...plus, the jeep looked like it was full of four guys that were heading to a st. patrick's day party and I had no intention of attempting to take on anyone let alone 4 guys at once today.
I'm really itching to go shoot though.

Arrrrrrrgh!!! I hate those kinda things!!
We have so much of that here though... A week can not be over without at lease 10 dead on the road. And I live in a country of... I donno... 7 million citizens? Imagine that!
And people are all upset with terrorism...

| I must've had the same tailgater following me in the snow on Wednesday. It was so rewarding watching him spin off into the ditch when he tried to pass me. |

I have one word for those two drivers you saw today : L-O-S-E-R-S
People drive way too fast for their skill levels, even when road conditions are good.
When I used to work as a Park Warden driving a fully marked vehicle with red and blues, people used to pass us on the park roads and highways as if we weren't there. This one guy passed me and my partner on a road signed at 80km/h (50 mph) and then proceeded to pull away from us at 130 or 140 km/h (80 to 90 mph). Went after him and pulled him over for speeding. I asked him why he was driving so fast. His answer: I don't like driving at night with headlights behind me... it blinds me. WTF? Then just stay behind me numbskull! This was at 1 in the morning on a pretty narrow and slightly twisty road on a cool and slightly foggy October... right in the middle of moose rutting season. The possibility of hitting a 1500 lb moose at 130 km/h isn't good for anyone, trust me.
And people wonder why car insurance runs so high...
EDIT
I forgot to mention that I was more worried about the moose than about this fool:P

So i'm driving up a hill at 25 on a raod covered in snow and ice, I get to the top of the hill and see a guy in a Jeep, in the turning lane wating for me to pass, before he make his turn. Then suddenly some @£$*ole driving Jeep Cherokee decides to try and pass the stationary Jeep and meets me head on............

| Yesterday must have been one of "those" days, as I has two people each try to change lanes into my lane in front of me at the same time. Somehow they missed each other, and I was too worried about hitting them (and getting hit from behind if I didn't) that I didn't get a shot, even though I had my camera right there. |

What? Nothing happened to him. You all look at this as a string of bad luck when in all actuality the man has been extremely lucky today. If all that happened to me I would feel like going out and buying a lottery ticket or something. Damn DP you should feel invinceable at the moment.

My thoughts exactly!! I'd buy a lottery ticket too. Just remember me when you win. ;-)
On Wednesday, while I was reversing out of a parking spot at the Post Office, after straightening up and moving forward, no other cars were moving at that time. Suddenly on my left, a Mercedes SUV was reversing out of their parking spot getting ready to hit my drivers door. I immediately blasted my horn, and they kept moving. I took my hand off and blasted it a second time, and finally realised they were about to scratch their lovely SUV and stopped in the nick of time. It gave me quite a fright. |

I'd say we're ALL idiots at some point and time for whatever reason (sometimes you've got a legit excuse ..other times you've just got your head up your ass). So I'm not going to start throwing any stones.
Hopefully everyone else made it home in one piece as well. |

Must be a jeep thing. Get an X or a yota! At least there was no damage, those sliders can take a hell of an impact and not budge. I can't wait to get my pair.
With your luck, you should stay in. After all the green beer downtown, there's going to be a lot more careless assholes driving on the road tonight. It was about 11AM and some dumbass at market square was already on the stretcher getting loaded into the ambulance. |

No slipping and sliding here in Phoenix!
Not to rub it in... but it is supposed to get to around 90 degrees today and I spent the day photographing one of the most spectacular wildflower seasons in years.
My problem was a cholla cactus I sat in and had to pry the barbed spines out of my butt with my car keys. It was difficult and it was painful. LOL!

Good. Serves you right for posting that after I spent two hours shoveling snow this morning. |

Shannon... we all suffer in our own ways...
I guess I'll go back to sunning myself and drinking cocktails out on the deck now! LOL
