I took this shot but didn't enter it. I am still kinda new at this stuff and just couldn't get it right. It also doesn't help that I am a perfectionist or as my wife puts it anal (All 600+ music cd's and DVD's in alphabetical then chronological order) Any tips on how to improve something like this would be great and welcomed. This is the best shot I got with little post editing.

At least I tried though right.

i actually really like it, although i am not voting on surrealism challenge due to me really not knowing what is good or isnt. I am so confused about it all. I would hate to vote something down when it is great :o)

That's quite good. Probably a low 6 score.

Interesting image which would have scored higher in advance editing because you can select the cotton and give it a gaussean Blur. That would make it a dynamite image.

It is a shame how this challenge which was described as surreal was bumped into another dimension. Yes, many of the images are not surreal but some even wanted to attach the label of classical surrealism. This is hogwash. This challenge is simply images that are surreal and the surreal preceedes the self annointed Surrealism movement. Personally, even though I love the work of Dali, he really did not introduce a new art. Consider, his images are rendered in old classical form of painting. Of course, this is the reason I really like him. His crucifixion is an all time winner and his surreal images are top caliber but look back in history and you will find works which rival his style. Surrealism did not invent the dream like images which symbolism. The surreal art of the past always had them.

So this challenge is merely about the surreal and anything that defies and bewilders the viewer perception is surreal.

For one check out Hieronymus Bosch from the 15th century.

Like the pic.. good idea. I actually think I have a much better concept of what I think surreal really is...surreal huh?

I think I had that poster of the garden of eden under a black light in my dorm in 1969......whoa.....

True to a point...I do think we should recognize that there is a difference between surreal and abstract, though.

You cleaned up the line in the background - looks much better. Maybe get rid of one of the light spots in the glass (right side). This would make it look more like it really was standing in a field.

Great work!

Rex, what about putting a little water in the glass or making it look like the cloud was raining...might be kinda cool

Having people fix your photos. What could be wrong with that. I don't mind at all. Looks good I will have to try later tonight.

And mine. I brightened the highlights, decreased mid tone contrast, and added median noise to get rid of table line. I changed the hue to more blue to get rid of yellow cast, then desaturated the blue a bit. I then adjusted levels, and sharpened.
