I was driving home this evening, hoping to get some pics for lines. Instead of the expected sun and clouds, a patchy flurry front swept in. There was a half dozen vehicles pulled over at my favourite picture spot, a rocky breakwater. I spotted this guy on the rocks, taking pictures of the sun through the snow. The lighting caused by this event was almost surreal (too late huh? LOL)

Anyhow, here it is:

Cool shot Jozi. The colors are interesting. Lots of ice on those rocks.

Cool. I think it's interesting that it looks like he's using a suveyors tripod to hold his camera though.

Judging from it's size and color, I think it's actually a total station (survey equipment) not a camera. I cant imagine why anyone would survey in the snow though...seems to me it would make it hard to find the prism.

Well that's weird because he's looking straight out to miles of open water... I just figured it was some kind of protective cover for his camera due to the snow. It was snowing right towards him. :)

Yeah, you kinda have to wonder what the heck he's surveying...maybe he's a bit nutty. It's really the exact size and shape for a total station though. Even the color is right--older ones tend to be a lovely puke yellow or pastel olive color.

Wow! Yup! It's exactly the same as your picture. Well geez, I hope they're not planning on doing something to this spot. I love this area for the waves and rocks and the extreme tides. Will have to keep an eye out for more stuff going on down there... Thanks!!
