Hey neat, I'm already in heaven, cool. |
Wow...tell me where you live and I'll be there by morning. I'm surrounded by evil (and contribute to it myself) here in southwestern Ontario...

Wow! Watching this thread for the just more than 4 hours and 200 posts - it obvious that everyone has their beliefs from one end of the spectrum to the other and everyone has the right to their beliefs.
Me beliefs are that God created this world and it was perfect. But rather than making us Robot like he allowed us choices - This allowed sin to come into the picture - The ramifications of this choice creates the world we live in - Do you really think that God wants death, poverty and sickness? I believe once sin entered this world and the choices were made - we all live all live with that outcome.....
The thought that we just are or everthing just became on their own - puzzles me because especially all of us as photographers see and study things of this world - probably more intently than most - and no matter what we look at - be it buildings, bridges, roads ..... they were all created by someone! So When we look at the detail of nature - do we not think - Wow - I wonder who created that? It does say in the Bible that everyone will be without excuse as even Nature points to the creator - If someone is wondering how to get this relationship with god - he will send someone to them .... It's a real overwhelming topic - so I will just listen for a while

heaven is smoke free, my friend :)

I think we will finally begin to understand who God is but we will always be learning more about and from him. I picture lots of exploring. I know that I will be able to smoke cigarettes again in heaven (finally!) and I assume that we will enjoy things we've only 'dreamt' about...the sensation of flying, being in space, being able to love completely, understand God's absolute concept of beauty.
I've often wondered how sex will translate in the eternal realm...I mean, it's one of the beauties of creation, what is the full and complete version of it without all the garbage to screw it up?
I will finally begin to understand who I am, who God has created me to be...I will know my friends and family completely and understand them as well. I won't get toothaches and my eye will finally stop twitching. I will breath deep the very presence of God. |

Impossible! How will I enjoy my Dominican Republican cigars?
I'm pretty sure that I'll be able to have a DuMaurier Light King Size cigarette in heaven...even talking about it makes me crave it...

Interesting point; another question:
What are the whitebalance temperatures in Kelvin for heaven and hell?

Actually Einstein did not prove that, what he showed was that there is an equivalence between mass and energy.
We observe that for a given system energy/mass is not created or destroyed but there is no prove that it can not be, at least no proof yet.
And whereas energy might not be destroyed our current knowledge says that entropy, the distorted of the energy, is always increasing.

WOW!
When i started this i didnt want to start a religious debate. I was after a simple answer actually. Afterlife beliefs yes or no. I guess i mean do you believe in ghosts. Do you believe that when people/animals pass that they can contact you in some way. I absolutely believe this 100%. If you dont believe that is fine. If you do, i am really interested in hearing your stories. That is all i wanted to know. I am sorry if once again a simple question i asked turns into this. I am taking mental notes to make sure i be careful what i ask.

Here's my opinion for what it's worth:
I am a Christian, though I do believe many, many things have been changed, edited and altered concerning the Bible over the years. For example, there was a large period of history in Europe where most were illiterate, except for the rulers and clergy who were often one in the same. The Bible has been re-written and edited by them several times to suit their purpose. What better way to gain more control over the masses than by religion?
There is a lot of evidence that entire books have been taken out, others re-written, and many translated completely wrong from the original languages into the new. So who is to say that everything in the Bible is 100% true anymore?
I also tend to believe in the idea of reincarnation. I've seen many things in my life that makes me believe it's possible. I once saw a show about a child about 5 years old who was having dreams at night, reliving being shot down in WW2 by the Japanese. His mother thought he might be nuts but he eventually came out and said his former name, his ship, and when he was shot down. She did the research and there it was.
For my own experience with that, I have a little niece in Italy who is now 8. When she was younger she asked my wife's sister ( her aunt, not her mother) "Aunt Germana, remember how we were all together before we were born? Why did you and aunt Francesca decide to be born before me? I had to wait"
Strange, given the fact that no one had EVER spoken to her about reincarnation before in her life, and still haven't. She has also said that NEXT time, she wants my wife to be her mother, Germana to be her father and her mom to be her brother or something like that.
Many devout Christians dismiss alternate lives and say people who believe in that are going to Hell. I'm not so sure. I'm of the mind that I have what I beleive, and I'll find out when I die. Other than that, I'm not going to judge anyone else for believing what they do.

I don't know if Hell is measured in Kelvin, but Heaven is generally regarded as above us, and it must be Fair in Height. |

I think the discussion has had a reasonable flow to it, with grace being shown by both sides.
Lentil, when you ask about afterlife, you delve into the spiritual (by definition).
Oh, and my answer is yes.

Gee...and why do people think christians are so obnoxious?
My apologies on behalf of these embarassing road signs and the smart-ass God they seem to represent...I don't know him.

I don't know a single Christian who hasn't given TONS of thought to what Heaven is like :-) Heaven is described in quite a lot of detail in scripture. I just can't remember the actual descriptions. Sorry! Someone more versed could tell you more. I do remember God talking about the heavenly city descending that is solid gold and has streets paved with jewels. |

If you talk about anything enough you will find a reason to believe.
Aliens? nah
Ghosts? no way?
lets stop[ kidding ourselves about these two.
Afterlife, maybe but not apparent or provable. Matter of faith. thats the point. |

Any description of this type of a heavenly city is obviously not from any god.. but from greedy *humans*, speaking *for* their god(s)..

If thats heaven I'll pass. I would assume if there was sach a place that gold and jewells would have no value. As for building materials, ouch.. Give me soft grss, long country dirt roads, open air buildings that would alow me to enjoy the night sky as I rested from a long day of play.. keep the gold and jewels, I'll stay right where I am.. but thanks for the offers
