Hey thanks for all the comments! Well I have good news and bad news, the bad news is I do NOT have any insurance of any kind that would cover the expenses, BUT we are going to get this fixed through a vendor of my work and can get a major discount so the repairs will end up being approx. $550-650, I guess that is better than paying $1600+ again and I can live with that for now.

Does anyone have any reliable insurance companies that they would recommend for your gear?

xavier, I remember once I was up front taking photos at a linkin park show when I got splattered from behind from something as if someone had just thrown their drink which happens ALL the time so you don't really think much about it, until after about 20mins I noticed my camera was just all gooey and sticky, attack of the sodas!! That killed my nikon coolpix when i shut it off and turned it back on again, sodas are the worst! I was hoping my digital slr would be sturdier but electronics are electronics i guess.

get AAA, I haven't taken them up on it yet, but their quote for about 4k of lenses+10D was around $80 for the year of professional use (shooting highschool sports and local events for a local newspaper)

Hey, that sounds GREAT, thanks for the info I'm going to check it out now!

Would I look under Homeowners insurance in AAA or is it under something special? I only ask because it seems like you have to fill out several pages of preliminary homeowners information before they are even willing to give you a quote.
