sure, it's a very simple 3 light setup, 2 main lights with umbrella's, left and right of camera, and a smaller light aimed at the background to keep the background white. you can see the shadows in the group shot through the legs. There were too many people on the seamless to get a good directional on the background without spill. If my studio were only a bit larger...

ok, i promise i won't bug you anymore about it, but i am really looking at starting up some portrait photography soon, and have been analizing anything that i like, so....what kind of umbrellas did you use?

a silver/white bounce or a translucent white?

just trying to get a feel for what certain lights do.

I love my Alien Bees. Small, light, consistant. I actually have 1 white/black (not shoot through) umbrella, and a silver/white (shoot through) umbrella (but I barely use it that way, i prefer the reflection) and a softbox that I use sometimes. I really recommend getting a good, big softbox.

Eric,

thanks for all the feedback. i have been drooling over the alien bees website a lot lately, and it is very refreshing to hear that photos that i really like use the lights that i plan on getting.

keep up the good work. you might have found a niche that we can all appriciate with those wacky family photos. it's just something different that we can all get a laugh out of.

Sure Jeff, I really think you will enjoy AB's. I'm gonna start advertising crazy family portraits i think. There might be a market for it, who knows?

Scary family... my list just got 1 person shorter for the next GTG. ;-)

FWIW, I have the exact same three lights at the office.
