So I've finally reached the point where I need a photo business related business card. I'm trying to decide if I should just go with a standard stock design (something you get from Kinkos and the like) or do my own design for the card. If I do my own, should I look at including a photo or just go with a graphic design?

Any thoughts or feedback are highly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Here's a business card thread from a few months back that had some good advice and examples....

From the samples, looks like most use some kind of clean photo that represents what they "specialize" in.

I guess it would depend on how good you are at graphic design. I generally prefer an original to a stock but not if you're unable to make it professional looking yourself.

There are some excellent examples in that thread Scott pointed out of cards that use photos to really pull attention to your card. If you have some punchy yet simple photos that represent what you're aiming to do, that can be helpful. However, a simple design can also go a long way in creating a professional feel.

You could always try a few and post them for shredding in the forums. :)

THE best cards are at //www.overnightprints.com They do full color, double side glossy cards and they're not that expensive for the amount you get! It's a really really really great card, that I promise. I just ordered 1000 postcards and 1000 business cards from them.
