I was at the canoe races today and was photographing paddlers as they came across the finish line. At the point I photographed this follow he was only 100 feet for so from the finish line, after paddling something like 8 miles. Just as I snapped his photo his paddle when flying out of his hands.

I did not realize that I caught the paddle flying out of his hands until I got home and was looking at my photos.

And when you drop you paddle the only think you can do is jump in the water and swim back to get it.

I thought that they float.

they do float, but you still need to get it back to you some how.
