Will two Sb 600's work together off of my D70 or do I need some sort of Flash Sync cord? I already have one but I want to get another one.

no you don't need a synch. The D70 will act as the commander for both of them via wireless.

You just need to pop the on camera flash up to get the SB600 to fire. But it will work.

If you spend the extra change on the sb800 it has a wireless feature.. the sb600 does not.
Joe
also, I'm not amazed by the 600.. It absolutely works, but it doesn't have anything to spare.

An SB800 can control SB600's but a 600 can't control other 600's.

Wait, is that right? If you have two 600s, they both must be off the camera? I've used one 600 with my D70 as commander, no problem. But if I wanted to be cheap and get another 600, I couldn't use it on the camera if I wanted to go wirelessly with the other 600? |

Onboard flash as commander can trigger a lot of SB600's and 800's.
A 600 on the D70 can't trigger anything, not even another 600.
An 800 on the D70 as commander can trigger a lot of SB600's and 800's but with a lot more reach than the onboard flash.

so you have to fire on camera flash to fire two 600's? what is the reach of the camera to the flashes as opposed to the reach of the 800? |

Correct. The quick flash on the D70 must be up for commander mode, which is what sets off the remote SB600, to work. If another SB600, which has no trancieving capabilities, is connected the commander mode flash 'signal' cannot be recieved by the remote SB600. The SB800 is the only one as far as I know that can send the signal.
