In rating photos for recent challenges (most notably the 70's challenge), several struck me as having a particular "scanned" look-- something in the color, sharpness, just looks so much like a scanned photo (like from the 70's) and totally unlike one taken with a digital camera. I won't name any individual submissions, but I was wondering if anyone else has possibly noticed the same thing. I know it's really not a big deal, and chances are slim that a scanned photo (if they really are) would pass voting and high-rating inspection, but I get concerned about things that undermine the integrity of these challenges. |

There are occasions where new members aren't familiar with the rules and submit scanned images. If there are images you think are scanned, you can request a DQ review and we will check them out. Make sure you vote as if they are legal, though! |

When I scan an image I would bet money you couldn't tell it from a image shot with a DSLR unless you read the EXIF file.
What do you mean, just poor quality? Could be just a poor camera, or someone altering their image in PS to try and make it look like it was shot in the '70s.

To add to mk's post, we have had at least a couple recent DQ requests because of suspicions that entries were scanned, however all have passed muster recently.

....or poor monitor calibration.
