Shot this tonight in my office with one 300 watt incandescent bulb....how can I improve it? Lighting...expression...composition...etc?

Thanks in advance!

IMO the lighting throws off the symmetry of the face. And the compositions seems off. I am not great at critiquing portraits but the left side of the face seems larger than the right due to your lighting effect. Or lack of some lighting on the right side of the face.

You need either more shadow (less cheek area lit) or some full to soften the shadow you got. You could use a white card to bounce some of that 300 watts back up at the right side of your face...

I like the contrast between light and shadow it adds drama. However the face does look a little wide. If you do the same "almost rembrant" lighting, but turn his face away from the camera (so his face was more shadowed) you will get a slimming effect. Your cropping seems a little odd. I would have liked to see it more extreme or more centered, but that is a personal opinion. Good luck
