I've never changed my parameter setting from Parameter 1 on my Canon. I was wondering what other users prefer, and is it more beneficial to set up your own parameters, use adobe RGB, or a different setting?

Also, do you change parameters when the subject or lighting changes, such as, from studio shots to outdoor, etc?

Experiment. Are you shooting in RAW?

yes. I guess I just don't really know what the parameters do. I read the manual, and it says Parameter 1 is most brilliant colors, Parameter 2 is muted, and AdobeRGB is really muted. Then you have your custom settings. Is it better to just use Parameter 1 (reccomended) and adjust everything in PS? This is what I've always done before, but I wonder if Im missing out on some great benefit of this option.

If you shoot RAW, it won't matter. I love RAW. Get DPP and then say goodbye to jpegs.

DPP?

so in raw it doesn't matter? That's good to know. What else doesn't matter in Raw? What about White Balance?

white balance doesn't matter in raw.

I shoot parameter 1...I was going to try out 2 or make my own, but after much research, I found sometimes it's hard to duplicate the fine amount of sharpening and saturation boost the camera's software gives you...of course it *can* be achieved, but it's not worth the extra effort to me.

In RAW or JPEG Parameter 1 is going to look the best coming out of the camera. With Photoshop CS RAW utility you can ajust everthing while still in the RAW mode, so it doesn't matter. If you are using Photoshop 7 without the RAW plugin it may be best to continue to shoot in Parameter 1.

thank you. That helps. I've still got PS7 unfortunately. So Parameter 1 it is.
