I have a major problem. I have a Sony MVC-CD300, I know its not the greatest camera but its all I have and all I will have for a while. Anyway when I plug in my DC adapter to upload photos to my computer or to charge the battery the camera just shuts off and does not charge. Even if the adapter is not pluged into the wall it still just shuts off.
Please help!!!!! |

Sounds serious. Have you tried calling Sony for technical support?

No s#!t Sherlock!
I recommend you contact Sony for technical support. It might be an easy fix for them. We all have camera trouble every now and then, I nearly killed my sensor once. Luckly, most of the time it's not as bad as it seems. Good luck!

I got this from Sony's Knoxweldge Base (Article C78044):
//129.33.22.8/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=158,E=0000000000473409643,K=7981,Sxi=5,Case=obj(78044),UseTemplate=Case.tem
The rechargeable battery does not charge in the camera.
SOLUTION:
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot battery charging issues
# IMPORTANT: Sony does not support third party batteries. If using a third party battery, refer to the battery manufacturer for further assistance.Remove and reinstall the battery.Verify that the AC power adapter is connected to the DC IN on the camera.
# Verify that the power cord is connected to the AC power adapter.
# Verify that the power cord is connected to a known, working power outlet.
# Confirm the battery contacts are free of any foreign material that may prevent charging.
NOTE: The recommended cleaning method is to use a dry cotton swab.
# Install a different, compatible Sony® rechargeable battery, if available.
# If the replacement battery charges, the first battery may need to be replaced.
# If neither battery charges, the camcorder may require service. |

Thank you all for your help. I called Sony and they said I need to send it in for repairs and a starting cost of $200. To much for me since its an older camera. So I went out and got a new Sony V3 I know its not a cannon 20D or such but its all I can afford and need since I am new at this point. Hopfully now I can start to enter challenges again. Does anyone have any comments about the V3? I have not had a chance to play with it yet. From what I have read its a good camera in that price range.
Thanks again. |
