I have seen some of the creative ideas many of you have for setting up a white background. I just bought some very white poster board and tried my first light on white attempts. The problem now is my lighting. My halogen desk light made the white background look kind of peachy color. I played with it in PS but unsuccessfully. I haven't ever done anything with WB settings. That may be the answer but I don't know if I can figure out how to do it in time for this challenge.
Does anyone have any ideas for cheap lighting? (I don't shop at Walmart, but Target, Home Depot, and Costco are options.)
Thanks for your help!!!

Did you try custom WB? If not you should try taking a shot of your poster board under the lighting conditions you will use, as your WB reference shot. Once you have the custom WB set your colour cast problem should be solved. You may still find you can "whiten" it up more with the eye dropper in levels, but for the most part you should be fine. PM me if you need some more help.

Are so call, daylight/sunlight/full spectrum light bulbs good to use for photography? |

If you shoot in RAW than you can fix the WB when converting it. I've found it's made a world of difference with my shots since I started shooting in RAW. I've yet to set a custom WB with my camera so not sure which way is easier.

I have never shot in RAW but this might be a good time to try it. I just got out the manuel and it is easy to set it to RAW. I have PS CS so I have what I need, but what do I do when I open it in PS? I'll check to see if there is a tutorial on it.
Thanks for your suggestion.

I recently started shooting in RAW and whilst you can play with WB etc (exposure is awewsome) I'm also learning about the WB controls on the cam, I figure if the original is a better image any 'tweaks' later can only improve things? Just remember to change your WB back after you messed around with it when you go back outside!

Thanks for your suggestion. I found custom WB in the manuel and it doesn't look too hard. Now I have two things to try. Looks like I'm going to have to learn something new!
Thanks-
