I'm in Huntington, WV, only 10 miles from the NE corner of KY. Frequently go to Prestonsburg or Pikeville on business, Grayson Lake for fun.

I am down in Salyersville 1 1/2 hours from Huntington. Do you ever go over to Paintsville Lake? Grayson Lake is beautiful, if you go another 25 minutes south on rt 7 to sandy hook you will find the Laurel Gorge.

Besides Grayson, I've been to Fishtrap, Dewey, Cave Run, and Yatesville Lakes in Kentucky. I've been to Paintsville (city) but not the lake. Will get there some day.

Thanks for the tip on Laurel Gorge.

Paintsville Lake is basically a damne up gorge and lots of other little gorges surround it if you ever need ideas on places to hike let me know

Laurel Gorge and the surrounding WMA at Paintsville Lake look very much like Red River Gorge but on a smaller scale
