I was just about to ask if these pics were taken in the state of Washington, but, having viewed your profile, I no longer need to. I just came back from WA and never saw any snow geese. Is that Mount Baker in the background???
Great shots.

Ray - yes, that is Mt. Baker. In the winter you can almost always find the Snow Geese either somewhere in Skagit County. Either on Fir Island or in the NE section of Mt. Vernon at the Preserve. Skagit County is also noted worldwide as one of the best places for predator birds, particularly falcons. Next time you come over this way feel free to contact me and I̢۪ll give you the scoop on where things are. That goes for any of the DPC̢۪ers that may be interested in birds.

My goodness JB, great bird images! Thanks for sharing them. The mergansers have to be my favorites of the ones you posted, great job getting the pair. That looks like one sweet lens. Wish I could join you for a shoot in WA, but it's a bit outta range from here in VA :0) |

Thanks to all for commenting here and on the shots. We have been having one beautiful winter (at CA expense, sorry) and I have been having a great time roaming the countryside taking pictures. All those indoor winter projects I promised myself would get done during the bad weatehr are still sitting. Oh well. thanks again for the comments.

I know how you feel JB, I think the same thing when I post bird pictures. Great shots as usual. Here are a few of mine from today, nothing as wonderful as yours. Shame about the immature eagle picture. The redtail is great. Cheers.

Nice shots, guys. I haven't really attempted any wild-life shots. The only animals I've photographed are tamed.
Here's my one and only bird shot:

The shadow in your bird photo almost has an Alfred Hitchcock quality about it, Byron, at least that's my reaction. Enjoyed the shot. I think he was just turning his head that way to get a look at the food you were tossing down. |

Bryon - I like the space in your photo, adds drama. I agree with the Hitchcock statement. Sorry to see they that you have the pesky House Sparrow in Hawaii also. Along with the Starlings the damn things are taking over the world! |
