I just had a first. A photo I took is being published in 'Woods & Waters' magazine (April publication)! Total surprise.

I was out and about trying to get a decent photo for the Bridges II challenge. When I was at a location a guy asked me to take a picture of him and his son with a disposable 35mm camera he had. I obliged (of course). Long story short, I told him a bit about what I was doing there and he let me use his canoe and geese for props (didn't like the shots and ended up not using them). In return I took a few shots of him and his son and emailed them to him later that day.

Without my knowing it he submitted the photo to the magazine, one thing led to another...certainly made my day!

Yep. This guy and his son are very nice people. Super helpful on moving the canoe when I used it for a prop, very polite, etc...

He copied me (email) on the note he sent back to the magazine editor giving the editor my name, etc...that's how I found out about it. I'm still smiling!

Hey that guy hasn't got any legs, or a gun...

Oh I see, they are camouflaged!

Congratulations. It is a nice photograph. The blue boat adds a nice splash of colour.

I know this is very much a snapshot and isn't anything that would be a normal DPC challenge entry type photo. Still, I was so excited when I found out, the first thing I wanted to do was post the news on DPC (ended up being the second thing I did after telling my wife!).

Always exciting to see a photo "go public". One thing about photography is sometimes you just meet the nicest people (like this dad and son.)
