sitting around 5.4, which is not stellar but is OK for me. Was hoping to do better- but this looks like it'll be a fairly low-scoring challenge.
Anyone else think it's odd that the challenge name is occuring so frequently in titles- especially misspelled?

Is the "Hidden During Voting" author vote from the DPC Critique Club? It is a very, should I say, direct comment. It is truthful, but one of those I never liked to get in school. |

It beats me! How come ppl vote and don't comment? they bring the score down, they don't read the title and still don't say why they're voting that way!
jeez

Every user (or at least paid members, but both, I think) have the option to hide their name during voting. It's in the My Home > My Preferences tab. I figure the anonymity helps to decrease any kind of voter bias.

Voter Bias? Your user name is not shown during voting, so how can people be biased? |

The Hidden During Voting feature is for people that would like to remain unknown while they comment on photos in a challenge. Once the challenge is over, you will see the name. |

I need more comments! although of the 3 comments I have two really nice ones :) why does the odd questionable always seem to come from people with empty portfolios and no challenges entered?

I've rated all the photos for this challenge, but havn't gone back to comment yet. I've found that this seemed to be a difficult challenge for a lot of people, and while there are some really great photos in there, a lot of them just don't seem to relate to the challenge, or need the title to have anything to do with the theme of "separation".
I hate grading a good photo down, but I do think the relevancy to the challenge means a lot. I do try to look for the meaning the photographer was trying to build upon, but sometimes it just isn;t there.
Any thoughts on this?
Oh by the way, here's my not-so stellar results thus far, lol:

Mine's not so well received it seems and I don't give a hoot. I LOVE my pic. I thought it was quite original and I was right. There are NO others in the challenge like mine. LOL Although I wasn't fond of one comment I received where all they said was "Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww". I really didn't think it deserved that. At least mine is original. heehee

That's a pretty ignorant thing to say about someones work no matter how bad it is. I hope they backed it up with a reason why they said, "Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww". In anycase Jozi, you won't learn anything from that person. Stick with it. :)

If it involved a bug or something like that, it might have simply been their reaction to the subject. I got a few of those for my touch entry:

I do not think my monitor was calibrated correctly when I worked on my entry. I might have gotten higher scores if monitor was correct.
I received a few comments saying the image looked hazy. It did not look that way to me when I submitted. I re-calibrated and also noticed the haze. I addressed the image again just to see the difference and it now look much better. Too little too late
There should be some test image on the site everyone can compare to see if their monitors are correctly calibrated. I am not sure if this is possible but I feel it would help a lot of members.
I now have to go back and re-score the images I voted on so far.
I also would like to thank everyone for their comments; 10 and counting.

Started at 5.9 then kept going down to 5.50. Now it is on an upward trend. Hope it continues. Thanks for the comments. |

I̢۪m eaten up with newbie disease; I must have checked my stats 100 times today. It will be good to get this first challenge out of the way and start sleeping again.
Holding at around 5.456
